Interview Assessment Notes
|
1. Could you introduce yourself and tell us about you? Your current/recent jobs and employers? Previous companies and jobs?
He clarifies that while he has worked with various products, including fintech and payments, he doesn't consider himself a product manager. He emphasizes that his focus has always been on the business side, such as marketing, development with different partners, negotiations, and strategic planning. He has worked closely with product teams, particularly in his recent role at XXXX, where he helped with feature planning, market strategies, and project promotion. He prefers not to be categorized as a product manager because he does not handle product specifications directly but instead collaborates with product teams on business strategy and execution.
2. What skill(s) / experience would you self-describe as strongest or specialist in?
His specialization lies in combining business strategy with product development to ensure that products are successful in both local and global markets, especially within the fintech industry.
3. Do you have XXXX (Key Criteria 1)? If so can you tell me more?
He has extensive experience in the fintech industry, particularly in e-wallets and mobile payment solutions. He has worked on various projects related to electronic wallets, from the initial stages of the project to defining the scope and necessary features of the app. He has been involved in designing and acquiring solutions for businesses, allowing them to accept mobile wallets like WeChat Pay, Alipay, and UnionPay, especially in China. His role primarily focuses on the business side, including negotiating with clients and banks, defining the market strategy, and ensuring the product fits the local market regulations.
For e-wallet projects, he worked on customizing solutions, ensuring the features match the business needs. He has also worked on building payment systems for regions where bank accounts or credit cards are not widely accessible, focusing on alternatives like cash top-ups in stores or through mobile carrier systems. After determining the app's primary focus, he collaborated with product and development teams to provide cost and time estimates for building the MVP, considering both short-term and long-term goals for the product.
In addition to his business and strategic role, he has also taken on management duties, overseeing the development process and guiding the team when market readiness diverged from the planned product. His leadership ensured the product remained adaptable to local market conditions, such as in Saudi Arabia, where infrastructure limitations necessitated a simpler solution.
He stays updated on fintech trends, particularly in China, by attending conventions and conferences, including Token 2027 and Fintech Week in Hong Kong. He also maintains a strong network with friends and colleagues in the fintech industry to stay informed on the latest developments.
