Could you introduce yourself and tell us about you? Your current / recent jobs and employers? Previous companies and jobs?
Started his career in Malaysia then come over to Singapore and joining the same company which is the XXX . After 2 years he came back to Malaysia and started his e-commerce business, after 3 years, he decided to come back to Singapore and join XXX as a Network Engineer. His first job is a Network Engineer and specialized in the DWDM Transmission network. They coordinate with the vendors and contractor and look after them in setting up the equipment’s on-site, do the installations, power up the equipment’s, and the cabling works as well. They also do the commissioning work after the said processes with regards to the equipment and do some end-to-end test on and the circuits and equipment’s.
-
What skill(s) / experience would you self-describe as strongest or specialist in?
Since he’s working on a more project-based jobs and started on 2011, the DWDM is quite new service provider back then and they are task to implement in the network. They got to build a new DWDM network for their client and set-up everything from scratch, from installing up to the testing and documentations. After completing these actions, they also station on the customers office to support them technically if they encounter some issues, inquiries, or any escalations. Rate his skills in DWDM 4.5 out of 5, because he needs some space for improvement and know that technologies are also improving so he needs to improve along the way. For his projects, he delivered large scale kind of project in their major operator in Malaysia and Singapore as well. Successfully delivered 10G DWDM range across Malaysia, with 2-3K Km of fibers. Started the project, implemented, and delivered it to customers on time. In Singapore, he worked in a project for XXX which is a major operator in Singapore and implemented a DWDM 100G mesh network which is quite challenging because they don’t have mesh network and 100G capacity network but successfully delivered the clients demands for its capacity and bandwidth.
-
Do you have the lists of key criteria's according to the clients requirements?
Have some background facing customers such as the vendors, equipment providers, and contractors as well because currently, he’s a Network entity. They also do the collimation works, ordering, etc. Have some experience with NOC, as an entity they must implement or used it to monitor their local DWDM network, but not actively monitoring. Have a level 3 knowledge in troubleshooting because he’s the one building the network. Have a CCNA certification and do some training with regards to Ciena and Huawei (pure experience).
