Interview Assessment Notes

1. Could you introduce yourself and tell us about you? Your current / recent jobs and employers? Previous companies and jobs?
He did his degree in India and post-graduation in UK with Engineering Project Management. After that, he moved to Shenzhen and got an opportunity to work with XXXX, did several roles with them as well; they were a quality management/assurance company and they do inspections/audits for apparels and footwear clients basically from Europe and USA. They did both final inspection and online inspection back then, depending on the client’s request so his role was to help train these inspectors. After the inspection, they send reports to clients so they can check if they can go ahead and send goods to their warehouse or stores. He was in-charge of preparing the training manuals and inspection manuals for all their inspectors, also was in-charge of the customer service team responsible for reviewing the final reports before being sent out to the client; on top of that, he was in-charge of training them and providing documentation/SOP to them. During his time there, he managed to build all their training documentations that is currently being used to train employees, future inspectors, and so on. Later on, he got promoted as the Customer Process Manager since their clients and customer base was continuously growing; they also upgraded everything to paperless-based SOP and had to do migration for all their documentation in their system. Due to the restructures because of COVID, the business has slowed down a bit and he was one of the persons that had to be let go.
He took a time off for one month and decided to do freelancing in technical writing and as a documentation specialist where some of his projects include manual writing, documents writing, or proofreading; one of his clients was an aeronautics company and the other one was an apparel company.

2. What skill(s) / experience would you self-describe as strongest or specialist in?
Strongest skill would be writing long and complex manuals, turning it into something that simpler and easier for people to understand, mainly within the apparel and footwear industry. Depending on the projects, he is good with inquiring or asking the right questions to get more details from the clients to be able to come up with a quality documentation. He’s knowledgeable with European, American, and Japanese standards when it comes to the two industries he specialized with. Apart from that, he is good with training and ensuring that teams follow exactly what they’re supposed to do.

3. Do you have the lists of key criteria’s according to the clients’ requirements?
He has more than 10 years of experience with technical documentation, he used to create documentation for quality control people to follow in doing their inspections on the apparel or footwear; he was also the one to proofread and check all their manuals, digest it, and take only what’s relevant for their process. His previous company had a sister company doing inspections fro furniture and hard goods like fridges, refrigerators, TVs, washing machines, and such where he used to do inspections, assisted in creating documentations, and helped the teams understand what they’re supposed to do. Previously, he only had one person under him but he has experience working with teams from different parts of the world including Turkey, Vietnam, India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Vietnam, and even Thailand. He’s a certified internal auditor for ISO 9001 so he can do a bit of auditing as well, they follow ISO standards, and have basic knowledge of other standards like IEN, EC, IEEE, and more.
