1. Could you introduce yourself and tell us about you? Your current / recent jobs and employers? Previous companies and jobs?
She is currently working as a Technical Publications Manager for XXXX where she’s responsible for planning documentation, defining strategies, scope, as well as leading the team and managing technical writers for their FPGA products for technical contents, online help, user guides, technical stuff, application notes, and other collaterals that they produce for their customers. Apart from that, she has responsibility for ISO certification as well and helps out the functional safety team in that area; her role is basically ensuring that their technical documentation are aligned with their company goals and software tools. Lastly, she also does content development oversight, leadership management, mentoring the team of technical writers, balancing workloads, and then collaboration with different departments and stakeholders globally (Malaysia, India, China, Armenia, US). Prior to this, she was with XXXX (XXXX) as a Senior Technical Writer, starting off as a Junior Technical Writer; she was part of the remote automation solutions back there, mostly doing documentation for both software and hardware. She started her Technical Writer experience with XXXX where she was responsible for helping them out migrate their technical documents for a subsidiary company called XXXX.
2. What skill(s) / experience would you self-describe as strongest or specialist in?
Strongest skills would be her deep knowledge and experience/exposure within technical writing; she started doing this way back when it’s not a famous job yet. As a technical writer, she considers being flexible working with different types of SMEs, department, and how to adjust information to be perceived by customers as an important skill for her to have. Also good with translating complex information into more digestible and more friendlier versions for their consumers; great with managing her people as well and is well-versed as to how they feel, what they need, and such since she herself came from the ground as well of being a technical writer.
3. Do you have the lists of key criteria’s according to the clients’ requirements?
She has more than 9 years of experience in technical writing alone, and about 3 years now in managerial position from both her current and previous company. Currently, she manages six people under the technical writing team and one from the functional safety team, a total of 7 members; previously, she mentored one junior as a senior technical writer. As part of the functional safety team, she has great knowledge of IEC, ISO, and is the one driving the certification for their software tools so she’s very familiar with compliance and safety standards. Knowledgeable with Adobe Frame Maker and is willing to be trained with InDesign or Illustrator, also has basic experience with XML documentation.
